Consultant Orthotist & Clinical DirectorSimon Dickinson

Simon has been qualified over 25 years and is an internationally renowned educator and clinician. He has worked as an NHS manager, Clinical Lead, Advanced Practitioner and Honorary Consultant in Lower limb Biomechanics.

Throughout my career I have constantly tried to improve and help others. Every day I try to learn something new so I can help patients and colleagues. Patients trust health care professionals with their problems, and we have a collective responsibility to ensure we do everything possible to help them achieve their goals. Talarmade Clinic has been equipped with the latest technologies to assist detailed patient assessment to help us better understand the problems patients face and to improve the efficacy of our treatments.”

Simon created and leads BAPO’s MSK Foot & Ankle education programme for qualified Orthotists. He has lectured at numerous national and international conferences and is responsible for education, product development and research and development at Talarmade.

Simon has significant experience treating adults and children with musculoskeletal and neurological problems. He also has significant experience treating elite athletes, footballers and cricketers.

Clinical Specialist & Clinical Service LeadAdam Horrocks

Adam Horrocks graduated from Salford University in 2010 as a Prosthetist/ Orthotist and has spent the last decade working in a variety of orthotic clinical and operational settings.

He joined Talarmade in 2017 as a Clinical Specialist Orthotist. In additional to his clinical expertise,  Adam manages the clinical team at Talarmade and in 2019 successfully completed a Masters module run by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapist in Leadership and Change Management.

Adam delivers education programmes around the UK on adult and paediatric biomechanics, AFO design, MSK foot and ankle conditions, Orthotic prescription writing and has delivered material science educational programs around the UK and  in Germany.

Clinically Adam specialises in adult and paediatric musculo-skeletal and neurological condition management. Adam has a keen interest in sport and injury rehabilitation competing himself in triathlon, endurance running and cycling events.

Senior Clinical Specialist - FootwearFrank Crewdson

Frank has been qualified for over 40 years and has worked and managed both in the U.K’s  major orthotics service provider companies, the New Zealand and U.K. N.H.S. and this country’s major orthotic footwear providers.

“ I have endeavoured throughout my career to be a listener who cares about the people he treats. I have tried within the field of orthotic footwear to be an innovator, I have introduced several changes to the footwear being used to treat patients in the U.K. today such as silver impregnated linings and polyurethane sole units. I have always been happy to disseminate my knowledge to my junior colleagues and other clinical team members”

Frank is an external lecturer at both Salford and Strathclyde University’s Schools of Orthotics and Prosthetics and has lectured to the Schools of Podiatry at Cardiff and Salford Universities. Frank has also lectured at several conferences for Orthotics and Podiatry within the U.K. He was also instrumental in establishing a Diabetic Foot M.D.T. clinic for Wirral University Teaching Hospitals during his tenure there.

Franks has a wide range of experience in all fields of Orthotics but has a particular interest in Therapeutic Footwear, his goal is to create for his clients footwear which is clinically effective and which any wearer would be happy with.

Advanced Specialist OrthotistJose Perez

Jose qualified from Salford University in 1996 and has worked in NHS and private settings. He has worked in several specialist hospitals where he has developed an interest in lower limb biomechanics, neuromuscular conditions, paediatric orthotics, and patients with complex orthotics needs.

Always keen on improving the outcomes of orthotic practice, he is engaged in clinical research and challenging evidence in practice. He is also a university external examiner and student practice placement facilitator.

Jose has experience in treating high level sportsmen and sportswomen as well as children and adults with musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. He is currently practicing as an advanced clinical specialist developing clinical treatments and improving standards at Talarmade and our NHS partners.

He is a keen athlete mainly focusing on triathlon but also engaging in a wide variety of other sports.

Senior OrthotistEsmé Calladine

Having graduated from the University of Salford in 2016, Esmé has worked within a number of different NHS Trusts assessing for, fitting and supplying orthoses to patients with a vast array of presentations. She love’s the variety that comes with orthotics but has a particular interests in stroke and patient’s effective rehabilitation, orthopaedic footwear and supporting those with learning disabilities. Esmé prides herself on her ability to listen and hear the struggles her patient’s face, with the aim to collectively work together to achieve personal goals.

Senior OrthotistSteven Musgrave

Steven graduated in 2017 from the University of Salford with a first class honours in Prosthetics and Orthotics. He has worked at many hospitals across England including GOSH, NHNN and UCLH. From 2018 he has been conducting adult and paediatric clinics across Lincolnshire, including a joint paediatric clinic alongside orthopaedic consultants.

Steven is passionate about education and is a placement supervisor. He has presented at the Lincolnshire Cerebral Palsy conference. In 2021, Steven was awarded Orthotist of the year and is a member of the BAPO marketing committee. His interests outside of work include football, golf and snowboarding.

Senior OrthotistAndy Budgen

Andy qualified as an Orthotist in 1997 after completing his degree at Salford University and has developed his vast clinical and communication stills by working in clinical settings in the Northwest of England. He joined TalarMade in 2021 as a Clinical Specialist Orthotist specialising in the treatment of complex feet and lower limb issues. Andy has led the Orthotic service in Manchester’s diabetic foot clinic for over 20 years.

Clinically Andy excels at understanding complex problems and finding appropriate solutions. This allows him to effectively treat a vast variety of lower limb conditions specialising in footwear, insoles, and other lower limb orthoses. Outside work, Andy is a keen sportsman and fisherman.
