Orthotics

If you have pain, swelling or discomfort in your muscles or
joints, it could be something that we can help with or cure.

Our specialist clinicians, can assess you using state of the art technology including gait analysis and plantar pressure analysis. We can prescribe stock orthotics and bespoke orthotics, made only for you. There are many injuries that could be treated with an orthotic, they may be caused by sport or just your posture.

One of our new treatments is our gait analysis equipment. We use the Zebris Gait analysis treadmill to measure the pressure placed on all areas of the foot while walking, running and inclined activities. We can also measure the difference in balance. With this analysis we can advise suitable treatment options.

Common ConditionsSports Injuries

  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Achilles Tendonitis
  • Chondromalacia Patella

Inflammation of the band of tissue (ligament) that connects the heel bone to the toes (plantar fascia) causing pain in the heels and arch of your foot. It’s more likely to be plantar fasciitis if:

  • the pain is much worse when you start walking after sleeping or resting
  • the pain feels better during exercise, but returns after resting
  • it’s difficult to raise your toes off the floor

Most people can recover from Plantar Fasciitis with rest, icing the painful area, stretches, and taking NSAIDs to relieve the pain and reduce the inflammation, if the irritation persists, you may need orthotics to help ease or take away the pain/issue.

We can offer orthotics, exercise and therapies like shockwave therapy to help with Plantar Fasciitis. Plantar Fasciitis can be treated effectively by wearing orthotic insoles. Orthotics can correct over-pronation and support the arch. This will help release the tension on the plantar fascia, thus treating the cause of Plantar Fasciitis. Shockwave therapy increases blood flow to the area in pain and case get the body to heal itself internally.

The Achilles tendon is a combined tendon of the two muscles in the calf, the larger muscle being Gastrocnemius and smaller muscle being Soleus.  This tendon is the strongest tendon in the body, it can still become overloaded or suffer from overuse resulting in pain and discomfort. Achilles pain is characterized by an ache just above the back of our heels. In many cases the individual may also experience tightness in their calves. You may notice that the Achilles Tendon in the affected area is noticeably thick and tender to the touch. You may feel pain while walking and especially when pushing off on your toes.

Typical Activities That Result In Achilles Tendonitis

  • Running
  • Gymnastics
  • Tennis
  • Dance
  • More…

We can offer orthotics, exercise and therapies like shockwave therapy to help with Achilles Tendonitis. Achilles Tendonitis can be treated effectively by wearing orthotic insoles or shockwave therapy to increases blood flow to the area in pain and case get the body to heal itself internally.

Chondromalacia Patella is often called runner’s knee, this painful overuse condition may lead to knee osteoarthritis. Chondromalacia patella is the breakdown of cartilage on the underside of the kneecap (patella). When the kneecap rubs against the thigh bone, it hurts and swells. It is common among runners and other athletes and has been given the nickname “runner’s knee.”

We can offer orthotics, exercise and therapies like shockwave therapy to help with runners knee. Orthotics like a knee brace, sleeve, or wrap to support the knee and help align the patella. Shockwave therapy increases blood flow to the area in pain and case get the body to heal itself internally.
