TM Clinic – Biomechanical Assessments

Are you suffering from muscle or joint pain? Have you injured yourself while running or exercising? A biomechanical assessment could help you identify problems and provide treatment options to get you on the road to recovery.

What is a Biomechanical Assessment?

This involves physical assessment and analysis of standing, walking and running utilising technology where appropriate such as force, pressure and gait analysis to help us understand your problem(s).

An analysis of your body’s movements during running, walking and standing.  They are used to assess and treat structural, functional and neurological foot and ankle problems.  These problems can cause pain, and affect the way the lower limbs function and affect your normal walking pattern.

What will a Biomechanical Assessment do for me?

A biomechanical assessment can identify any issues you may have and help to:

  • Reduce pain
  • Improve leg, ankle and foot function
  • Improve gait
  • Improve posture
  • Improve balance

What happens during an assessment?

One of our clinical team will review your medical history, conduct a physical assessment and discuss any problems you are experiencing.

We may further assess you using our Zebris treadmill, walking and/or running. The Zebris treadmill is a highly sensitive piece of equipment containing over 5000 pressure sensors and two video cameras to collect data for analysis.  It helps us determine the cause of your pain and highlight any potential problems.  Your assessment may also include a non-weight bearing assessment of your joint range of motion, muscle testing and/or postural assessment.

After we have analysed the data and reviewed your examination findings, we would be able to offer you a customised treatment plan.  This may include orthotics, such as insoles or footwear for example and an exercise and stretching plan.  You would also receive follow-up appointment(s) to see how your treatment is progressing.

Please get in touch with us for more information or to book an appointment.  If you are unsure whether a biomechanical assessment is right for you, please feel free to call or email us and we can help you decide.
